ATVs are among the most enjoyable recreational and job-related vehicles in Minnesota. You can use ATVs for a wide range of purposes and take them virtually anywhere on smooth or rough terrain. Like many vehicles, you must practice safety when driving an ATV. If you are a beginner, you need to know what it means to be 'safe' and how to operate the vehicle safely. Below are some of our tips for driving an ATV and how you can do so responsibly. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Plymouth location at the number below.
Wear Protective Gear
ATV wrecks can lead to serious injury or fatality if you are not wearing the proper gear. You can start by putting on your helmet. We also recommend that you wear proper gear such as over-the-ankle boots, goggles, gloves, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. By wearing protective clothing, you will greatly reduce any cuts, wounds, or other injuries you could incur in a wreck. Try to purchase gear that is approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) or the Snell Memorial Foundation.
ATVs are Single-Rider Only
Most of the ATVs we sell are built to carry a single operator with no additional passengers. ATVs are specially designed to move as the operator adjusts his/her weight when turning left or right. He/she must use quick reflexes to maintain control of the vehicle. An additional passenger can inhibit this ability and cause the operator to lose control in rough terrain. If you want a multi-passenger ATV, we suggest that you look at our CFORCE 800 EPS or CFORCE 500 HO EPS.
Do Not Allow Your Children to Operate an ATV
Like many other adult vehicles, children should not operate an ATV. Most children do not have the weight, skill, or agility to operate a small or large ATV. Statistics have shown that one-third of ATV-related emergency room injuries and deaths involve children under the age of 16. As stated above, do not allow your child to ride with you as a passenger on a single-rider ATV.
